@ 1013 The Children of Israel reject Aaron's attempts to stop them worshiping the golden calf 20:90-94
20:90 Aaron had said to them before, 'My nation, you have been tempted by it. Your Lord is the Merciful. Follow me and obey my order.'
# وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَارُونُ مِن قَبْلُ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنتُم بِهِ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ فَاتَّبِعُونِي وَأَطِيعُوا أَمْرِي 90
20:91 They replied, 'We will not stop; we will cling to it until Moses returns to us.'
# قَالُوا لَن نَّبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفِينَ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَى 91
20:92 He (Moses) said to Aaron, 'When you saw them in error, what prevented you,
# قَالَ يَا هَارُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوا 92
20:93 from following after me, did you disobey my order?'
# أَلاَّ تَتَّبِعَنِ أَفَعَصَيْتَ أَمْرِي 93
20:94 'Son of my mother,' he replied, 'Do not seize my beard nor my head. I was afraid that you might say, "You have divided the Children of Israel and did not uphold my word."
# قَالَ يَا بْنَؤُمَّ لاَ تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِي وَلاَ بِرَأْسِي إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَن تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِي 94
